Juxtaposition of Thought, Theory and Truth
2010-2011 Middle States Regional Honors in Action Program

This Middle States Regional Honors in Action Program, Juxtaposition of Thought, Theory, and Truth, was created by the 2010-2011 Middle States Regional Officer Team to explore Phi Theta Kappa’s 2010-2011 Honors Study Topic, The Democratization of Information: Power, Peril, and Promise. Through analysis of Issue 3: Individual and Community within the Honors Study Topic Guide, chapters will be able to develop an Honors in Action project that focuses on Scholarship first. Chapters will then be challenged to incorporate leadership, leadership development activities and a service learning component, while engaging their chapters, colleges, and communities to produce a meaningful result.
Simply put, “Honors in Action” means that scholars are engaging with their communities using the Phi Theta Kappa Hallmarks of Scholarship, Leadership, Service, and Fellowship to research the many and varied issues affecting the world we live in as they relate to the Honors Study Topic. The Honors in Action project ideas suggested within the 2010-2011 Middle States Regional Honors in Action Program, Juxtaposition of Thought, Theory, and Truth vary in scope and may be adopted by individual honor students or classes and Phi Theta Kappa members or chapters. Each Honors in Action project description is the nucleus of an undertaking that can provide opportunities for learning and growth in the Society’s Hallmarks. By combining scholarly inquiry and research with leadership to increase awareness and service to the community, an individual or chapter can make a difference regarding the issue explored or discovered by studying the topic.
Please take the time to explore and become familiar with our Regional Honors in Action Project: Juxtaposition of Thought, Theory, and Truth. This Honors in Action Project focuses on Issue 3: Individual and Community within the International Honors Study Guide to align the region on one issue while offering an opportunity for each chapter to create an Honors in Action Project that meets the needs of their community. Our goal is to produce a collective analysis of all of the chapters’ final results. Throughout the process, we will ask that you communicate your findings with us.

About CollegeFish.org’s Transfer Planning Tools
As populations at community colleges grow, easy and affordable access to transfer resources becomes critical. At CollegeFish.org, we bring together community college students, admission counselors, advisors, administrators and scholarship partners – all on one site.
We are here to encourage and support students as they prepare to transfer and obtain a bachelor’s degree. We offer college planning items such as matching community college students to colleges and universities, assisting with scholarship searches, providing direct access to four-year universities and even tracking admission and financial aid deadlines. Because this is a collaborative effort uniting two-year and four-year students and schools together, we aim to remove the confusion when navigating the transfer process.
The people behind CollegeFish.org have been assisting community colleges since 1918. Give us the opportunity to help you achieve your educational goals.
